- Backyard Paradise (Backyard Recreation and Entertaining Area)
Goal of Project: Transform an
ordinary flat backyard space into a backyard paradise. Our client wanted to
change their backyard into an area that was both child safe and offered an area
to entertain guests. Our client wanted a gym set installed, a swimming pool
installed, a backyard basketball court installed as well as a pool house and
garage for his lawn tractor, an enclosed sunroom, a hand crafted stone wall
around the patio, a barbeque area and a dining gazebo. Our design sectioned the
backyard in two areas.
One area offered a fenced in
play and sports area with a half court including lighting for night play; a
children play gym with a poured in place safety mat to protect from fall; and
10,000 square feet of turf for other games and sport play.
The second area is the pool
area which can be entered via gates from the rear patio area or from the side
yard by the driveway. The main divider between the play area is the pool house
and a stone wall with a black iron type fence built on top. The entrance gate is
framed with stone pillars. The pool house has a full bath, changing rooms,
storage area and a covered outdoor bar. The pool is a Gunite 20 X 40 pool with a
real rock water fall at the far end. The pool area has about 2000 square feet of
patio area around the pool bringing the total patio area of the project to about
3400 square feet.

Project # 2: Patio with
Built-in Barbeque
In this project our client
wanted an area to entertain family and friends and needed to do something about
the walkout area from the basement. Our design offers a large patio area with a
built in grill and made the stairway down to the walkout six feet wide. We
divided the stairs into two sections with a landing. The multi-terracing opens
up the area. The stairs are also lighted by low voltage lighting set into the
stone work. The barbeque grill has burners and granite counter top.
The patio area is
boarded by two sided stone walls with bluestone capping. We added a water
feature into the stonewall using a stone water basin.
